§ For seven years, my research focused on social aesthetics (B. Carnevali, G. Simmel), examining the subtle interconnections between the senses and sociality. Interdisciplinary in nature, this work paid particular attention to France and China (seventeenth to nineteenth centuries), integrating the sensory and affective dimensions into the analytical perspective brought to my objects of study.

§ Currently, I am exploring a new research field dedicated to the concept of atmosphere. This interdisciplinary work draws upon body studies, affect studies, sensory studies, and phenomenology, focusing primarily on aesthetics, social aesthetics, and the arts from the 17th century to contemporary art. Special attention is given to cultural comparatism by broadening and contextualizing our arguments through multicultural perspectives, going beyond the sole « European culture » as well as its values and discourses.

§ This research project is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. It is being conducted primarily at Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Germany.
